Business Systems Analyst - Accounting & Finance

The Business Systems Analyst - Accounting & Finance is responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and setting up control systems within the Accounting functions in the organization.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently to solve problems and operate in a multi-tasking environment.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Document findings of study and prepare recommendations for implementation of new systems, procedures or organizational changes
  • Interview personnel and conduct on-site observation to ascertain unit functions, work performed and methods, equipment and personnel used.
  • Analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding.
  • Confer with personnel concerned to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems or procedures.
  • Expand or modify system to serve new process or improve workflow.
  • Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures and quality standards.
  • Develop reports for management and regulatory bodies
  • Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records


Qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Proven experience as a Management Analyst or Systems Analyst involved in a similarly sized accounting department within the organization
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.) is desired but not required
  • Experience in the Construction Industry and a firm understanding of Project Costing and the Revenue Recognition process including calculating projected cost to complete in projects is desired but not required
  • Working knowledge of accounting in a manufacturing environment including inventory valuation is desired but not required
  • Understanding data analysis and forecasting
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and construction accounting software (such as J.D Edwards, Great Plains, CMiC, experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX) a plus
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field is desired but not required
