Overview

The CAD Operator is responsible for complete preparation and set up of new project job file, including drawing index and cover sheet, complete drafting of electrical plans utilizing the most recent version of AutoCAD and/or Revit software, complete electrical panel schedules utilizing established Excel spread sheets and complete weekly time sheet.  The ideal candidate will have knowledge of electrical and architectural symbols and basic electrical or general construction.

 

Responsibilities

Include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Complete drawings based on mark-ups by others
  • Set up plan sets including cover sheet and drawing numbering
  • Communicate with designer/engineer to identify minor design issues
  • Work within established department utilizing established standards and support software
  • Assist and work with other department members to offer flexibility
  • Operate and reload print machine
  • Complete panel schedules
  • Complete accurately cost coded weekly time sheets
  • Complete As-Built plans from field mark-ups, including hand drafting

Qualifications

Include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Basic drafting skills (not just ability to work AutoCAD or Revit)
  • Base knowledge of electrical drawings and drafting symbols
  • Complete understanding of Paper Space versus Model Space (AutoCAD)
  • Be familiar with the most recent version of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Understand LISP (AutoCAD)
  • Ability to work with families and differentiate between them (Revit)
  • Able to navigate and understand the Ribbon (Revit)
  • Physically capable of handling drawing plan sets and print paper up to 35 pounds
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and AutoCAD trade school diploma is preferred
