  • Overview

    The Site Safety Specialist Intern is responsible for a wide variety of construction and electrical safety management system aspects to include: assistance with the Construction Project Safety, Health (S&H), and Risk Management process; assisting with implementing site-specific Accident Prevention Plan, performing audit and inspections, and collaborating with Project Management, Safety Management, and Field Management in the implementation and leadership of the Risk Management process.  This person will be assigned to work directly with the onsite project manager & site supervision on a large commercial jobsite. The project site is located in a small community (Brooks, CA.) West of Woodland, Ca.

    Responsibilities

    Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Actively monitor and promote the Safety & Health of all workers on site.
    • Working with site supervision to ensure the work area is prepped and readied for work from an EH&S perspective.
    • Assist the onsite team with record keeping; completion and filing of daily EH&S reports, checklists, JHA’s and procedures.
    • Assisting supervision with EH&S training & documentation.
    • Performing equipment inspections and documentation (such as fall protection & fall arrest systems)
    • Conducting and documenting construction area site audits with internal and external safety managers
    • Responding to and documenting minor incidents.
    • Establishing & maintaining safety boundaries for critical work
    • Spotter or standby duties
    • Flagging or directing of traffic as needed for site activities
    • Inventory and stocking of health supplies such as drinking water for heat stress prevention or first aid kits.
    • Monitoring and replenishing PPE levels as directed by site supervision
    • Deliver effective verbal communications using hand held radios

    Qualifications

    Skills and qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Must have or be willing to obtain before starting an OSHA 10 construction certificate & CPR/ First aid certificate (training costs provided by RMG)
    • Must be 21 years or older
    • Good verbal and written communication skills, including speaking to large groups
    • Strong internal and external customer orientation
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks
    • 8 hours a day, Start time is 6:00 am Mon – Friday
